Did you know: Trees and other plants strengthen immune cells. So says a study from the Nippon Medical School in Tokyo. It’s all in the antimicrobial essential oils they release. Called phytoncides, they safeguard trees against germs. For humans, in addition to adding muscle to your immune system, phytoncides also lower blood pressure and heart rate, reduce stress, anxiety and confusion, and help with sleep while boosting creativity.
